The dictionary describes AVIARY as an enclosure for confining birds, which means, that in principle, it is a bit different from the conventional cage. But the major difference is that an aviary bird cage is constructed to permit birds much more space to fly around – similar to what they would have in a natural environment.
 
Just as there are zoo-based aviaries, there are also home-based or indoor aviaries that are well-adapted to keep birds that need to fly constantly in order to ensure they’re healthy, strong, and happy always. Such arrangements automatically deal with the smallness ordinary cages present.

They are built with plexiglass and wood, so as to permit unfettered viewing, and also keep bird waste intact as much as possible. Another type of special aviary bird cage are those that are exclusively made for the elderly homes.
 
Aviaries are expensive but can be built by individuals. They’re quite expensive to acquire, but those who cannot afford them, can avoid the manufactured grades, and instead, make one for themselves or call in a carpenter to construct one to suitable specifications. The beauty of making an aviary bird cage to suit your desire is that there is no limitation to what you can achieve: you can make it functional, decorative, or both; decide maintenance pattern to follow; and choose which design, look, and feel to adhere to, and so on.
 
You can also make fairly large aviaries, akin to a backyard zoo or amusement park. However, these sort of aviaries are more popular during the warmer periods and much cheaper to build than the full indoor types.
 
There are no stringent measures you must follow in choosing an aviary bird cage for you bird. Why? Because it is proven that sometimes, even a constantly flying bird may adapt to live in a conventional cage, if adequate measure is taken to condition them as such.
 
However, your decision should not be rushed, but instead, put enough interest into your birds to discover what they like and how well they can adapt before committing resources and time into aviary bird cage or conventional cage.
