Decorative Bird Cage
Creative Uses for your Decorative Bird Cage
A decorative bird cage can be a lovely addition to your home furnishings. But how to use it? If you think that the only way to use it is to set it on a shelf to look pretty and gather dust, then you may be able to learn a thing or two from this article.
There are many attractive and creative uses for your decorative bird cage, depending on the kind of bird cage you have, or are considering buying. Bird cages come in literally thousands of different shapes, sizes, colors, and designs, and are made from dozens of different materials; bamboo, wicker, wrought iron, cast iron, bronze, brass, plastic, wood, and woven vines, just to name a few. For the purposes of this article, we'll focus on just two different kinds; tall and narrow, and round or globular.
The tall, narrow decorative bird cage models are some of the most elegant. They're also some of the hardest to use in you decor, as all too often, the door is too small and high to be able to reach inside the cage easily. If you can reach inside, you can set a tall, ornate vase of flowers inside it, or put in a little cushion with some curio on it. If it's too difficult to reach the bottom of the decorative bird cage, try suspending a mobile from the top. Alternately, if the construction of the cage allows it, hang Christmas ornaments at irregular intervals from the ceiling.
Globular decorative bird cage models are some of the easiest to use around the house. Filled with dried flowers, they make a delightful centerpiece. Or you may place fruits or gourds, squashes, and miniature Indian corn inside them for a different look. Also, consider using them as party favors; fill them with candies, small toys or favors, and a little artificial bird for an interesting and unique gift.
